SMARTNet Instructions
SMARTNet is a special collection of customized information services that are provided to current students and faculty. Students may access SMARTNet directly by clicking here. Log in with your student ID number as your username and your password (The default is Abcd followed by the last four digits of your Social Security Number). If you forget your SMARTNet password, a link on the SMARTNet homepage will email you a reminder. Through SMARTNet you have access to tools like the student directory, your academic record, class registration, current and past financial statements, and housing information.
Please enter the following information on the Login Screen
User Name: (Student ID Number)
Password: (Default is Abcd followed by the last 4 digits of your SSN)
If you have forgotten your password, or if the default is not working for you, please use the SMARTNet Password Reminder Tool. This tool will send your password to your St. Mary's E-mail Account.
Do not select the option at the bottom to save this password in your password list, as you are required to change your password. In general, saving passwords using this option is not recommended. This login will take you to the SMARTNet student home page.
If you have any questions, please contact the Student Help Desk at 240-895-2357 off-campus and at x2357 on-campus.
MySMART

Biographical.
The "Biographical" screen includes five separate options, each listed as a clickable menu item at the top of the screen:
This option will provide you with information about any hold flags that exist on your record. A "hold flag" is occasionally placed by a campus office if there is something important that you need to do (such as pay a bill or provide an immunization record). Most of you will not have hold flags; if you do, you will need to clear up the problem before you will be able to do things such as register or order transcripts.
Other addresses:
The College has a number of addresses for each student, such as the address for billing, the address for phone billing, the statement address, and even a "vendor" address (in case you work for the College and need to be paid).
Exams:
The "exams" option allows you to see some of your test scores, such as SAT or ACT scores and your Foreign Language Placement Test (FLPT) score.
Education:
This option shows your previous educational institutions (high school and any colleges from which you transferred credits prior to coming to St. Mary's).
Housing and Services:
This option allows you to see various pieces of information, such as your on-campus housing assignment, your meal plan option, and emergency contact information. Please change the options setting for the session and year you wish to search.
Change Password:
The "change password" option allows you to change your password. Please change your password to a secure password on first logging into SMARTNet. The minimum length for the password is five alphanumeric characters. No spaces or special characters are allowed.
E-Mail:
This will take you to the Outlook email Web Interface. When prompted you will put in your network username and password. *If you do not have an e-mail account, you must come to the Technology Services to sign an ethics statement to activate your e-mail account.
Network Folder:
This option will allow you to transfer files from your computer to your network folder or visa versa. We commonly refer to this folder as your "G" drive. The login information required is your network user name and network password. More information on accessing your G-Drive is here.
SGA Elections:
When SGA elections are being held, you may go here during the designated time and vote. Your vote is anynomous.
Room Draw:
Students living in the dorms, except for their freshmen year, use this to select which room in which dorm they want to live in. More information is available at room draw time from Residence Life.
Room Selection:
Students living on campus, but not in the dorms, (LQ, TH, WC, NC, SC) use this to select where they will live. More information is available at room selection time from Residence Life.
GradeSMART
Academic Record
This screen provides you with essentially the same information as a transcript of your academic work. The semesters appear in reverse chronological order, that is, with the most recent semester's work listed first. The information on the "academic record" screen is not, of course, an official College transcript.
Transfer Credits
If you have taken courses outside of St. Marys and they are to be used towards your BA from St. Marys, here is where you will find information on what credits the school has on file.
Degree Audit
This screen provides you with information about your degree requirement and what courses have been completed and what your graduation status is.
Schedule of Classes:
This feature provides access to the on-line Schedule of Classes, with highlighted links to each department and division. There is a search feature that allows you to query by course as well as an option to search for classes that are open.
Registration:
Students will register for courses through this page. When course registration is open, more information on how to use this page is available from Academic Services.
Student Schedule
Your own schedule for the current semester is shown through this link. You should check your schedule, especially early in the term before deadlines for changing it have elapsed, to make sure it is accurate. You may be able to avoid registration problems by checking the accuracy of your schedule through this feature.
Grades:
This option shows your grades for the most recent semester, along with cumulative statistics.
Academic Polices:
Here you will find current St. Marys academic policies on various topics including Academic Advising, Course Loads, Internships, and Academic Probation.
GPA Projection
The GPA projection feature allows you to explore the impact on your current semester GPA and cumulative GPAs for various grade outcomes. One important warning about this feature: It cannot take into account repeating courses. If you are currently registered for a course you have previously taken at St. Mary's, the GPA projection will not be accurate because the system cannot take the previous grade (and its associated credits) out of the calculation.
$MART
These menu options show your current monthly and annual statements for tuition and fees. The annual statement also indicates the allocation of financial aid toward your semester's bill.
Financial Aid:
The Financial Aid screen provides you with access to your own financial-aid information, and also provides useful links to other websites with important financial-aid information.
SMARTFind
If your professor is currently using this instructional software, you will be given access to this option.
SGA page:
This a direct link to the SGA webpage.
Student Directory:
The "directory" option allows you to search the on-line directory for names, phone numbers, and email addresses.
Library Resources:
This option offers a rich array of online and traditional scholarly resources. Hundreds of journals and on line databases are available 24 hours a day. Some resources but not all are restricted at this time to on-campus use at this time due to license agreements.
Student Life:
This link will take you to the SMCM student life webpages.
Important Numbers:
This is the phone directory of all offices on campus.
